
You are allowed to start learning to drive on the road when you have reached your 17th Birthday. In some areas you may be able to have off road lessons before this. You may apply for your provisional licence before your reach 17 and must have your licence before starting your on road lessons.
The Theory Test
You don't need to pass the theory test before starting your lessons. In fact many people find it best to combine learning the theory with their practical lessons. However, you do have to pass the theory test before you can apply for your practical test. Find out more.
